Interesting story here about, what is being deemed, the worst building in history. The story is about a North Korean hotel that has been under construction forever and still is not completed. According to the story, the government regularly air brushes it out of photos of the city.
Of course this is an extreme example, but the principle holds true for all of us. An oppressive environment doesn’t lend itself to innovation. How’s the "vibe" on your team or in your organization? Is it innovative-friendly? Or does some form of oppression stifle the creativity of the group?
The best way to find out is to ask.
The second best way to find out is to see if you’re airbrushing out the consequences of oppression.
