Margaret Wheatley wrote, “Relationships are all there is. Everything in the universe only exists because it is in relationship to everything else. Nothing exists in isolation. We have to stop pretending we are individuals that can go it alone.”
For a while, I’ve been thinking about how many cool people I know in my city. And, I’ve always wanted to create a connection space for my friends, who don’t know each other, to get to know each other. This year, I’m putting my money where my mouth is. I’m creating Possibility Fridays–a place to hang out with friends, make new ones, and see what possibilities could lie in new connections.
Why not try a Possibility Friday yourself?
We also have to stop assuming that we can only act within or with a group. Permission to action is already given in our "hereness". We are here thus we have permission. Our actions will always have negative as well as positive outcomes. While we want to avoid the negative, it is simply an outcome of any action taken. Our goal would be thus to maximize what we would assume to be the positive. The primary reason for our lack of action thus comes in the assuming…assuming that we are either way too important or not important at all…
Given the above post I added…Possibility Fridays then become a necessary time to relearn the art of assuming…
Gary,
"hereness" — yes very true. You are right. Our "hereness" does assume our connection. I tend to think we forget this "hearness" and must be consistently reminded of it in a couple of ways. First, we need to remember there are others close by and not shut them out. Then, we need to remember when we invite them in to actually let them do more than sit in the corner.
An interesting idea. I got to your site searching on Margaret Wheatley. Thanks. Jann
