I read this article  on MSN about secretes to longevity in life.

The article pointed our 12 secrets, if you will, to those who live longer. They included things like, staying up on techie trends, being in drama free relationships, having a flat belly, and avoiding all types of soda (even diet). One of the qualities was that long livers are “flourishers.” Here’s what the article said:

You’re a Flourisher
About 17 percent of Americans are flourishers, says a study in American Psychologist. They have a positive outlook on life, a sense of purpose and community, and are healthier than “languishers”–about 10 percent of adults who don’t feel good about them selves. Most of us fall somewhere in between.
“We should strive to flourish, to find meaning in our lives,” says Corey Keyes, PhD, a professor of sociology at Emory University. “In Sardinia and Okinawa, where people live the longest, hard work is important, but not more so than spending time with family, nurturing spirituality, and doing for others.”
I wonder how much more healthy it is to be in the middle than it is to be a “languisher.” Sometimes the middle is not such a good place to be. For instance, you can get run over by a car.
So…today, make the choice to flourish and shun languishing. It’s only speeding up your death anyway.
