Not sure this is really going to help Yahoo!

Just saw this news about Yahoo!

---

Yahoo is planning a reorganization that is sending ripples through its executive ranks.

Yahoo executives are discussing a plan to centralize numerous product groups, such as its mail and search and homepage divisions, into a global product organization. The plan is being pushed by Yahoo President Susan Decker, who has been looking to improve communication between Yahoo's product teams and overseas sales groups.

I really doubt this is going to help anything--except delay the real issue. Yahoo! has lost its way and is grasping for things to make it better. How do I know this? I don’t; it’s mostly speculation. However, it’s not all speculation. Yahoo’s! problems are clearly around leadership and finding a new voice. Reorg’s rarely fix these things. But they do make one feel better for a while. Kind of of like having a second helping of desert.

I love my Kindle

A week ago I got an Amazon Kindle. I love it. The e-reader allows me to download, directly from Amazon, newspapers, books and other content. The ink paper technology makes reading a pleasure. When I hold the Kindle, I am convinced that it represents, at least in part, the way data will be handled in the future. I can imagine every student in the future having something like a Kindle to hold all school books and documents in one small device. The device could also be a phone, digital player, mp3 player and more. Students of the future, could have only one device for every need imagined. So could the rest of us.

The only thing that would make it better is if Apple made it.
